My PhD (Durham University, 2010) was an ethnographic study of five online Christian churches, analysing new digital forms of worship, leadership and community. Since then, I have studied the role of new media in conversion and deconversion, online death and mourning, digital Bible reading, and the place of religion in the digital humanities. I also edit the Journal of Religion, Media and Digital Culture (www.jrmdc.com).
