Hank Glassman

I was born in Houston Texas in 1963 to midwestern parents of Byelo-Russian Jewish stock. I work on medieval Japan and my PhD is in Religious Studies. I am a historian and use stories, sacred images, and archival material such as diaries, inscriptions, and letters to bring to life the world of medieval religion. The works of Aby Warburg, Natalie Zemon Davis, Peter Brown, and Carlo Ginzburg represent a few influences on my approach. Most all of my primary and secondary sources are in Japanese and Chinese.
