Didn't play much Galaga, but I was able to earn a fairly high score on Zaxxon, in which a Galaga-style screen was an integral part. More seriously, I began my academic study of religion and Islam as an undergrad at Haverford College. Earned an MA in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at U Chicago, and a PhD in Religion from Duke (2002). Taught religious studies 6 years at Miami of Ohio (2002-2008), and for the past 5 years at the U of Oregon (2008-present).
